First Run Done ✔️

The support belt arrived today, I was absolutely over the moon. I managed to hold in my excitement to use it until this evening though.

The nurse described it as not uncomfortable, but you should know that it’s there. And to be fair to her, that’s about spot on for a description. It isn’t the most comfortable thing in the world, but I don’t think I would call it uncomfortable. However, I certainly know that it’s there!

It takes a bit of getting used to as it is extremely tight. I was concerned about there being so much pressure on my stoma, or it stopping the output, but I was reassured by the nurse that would not be the case. At the end of the day this is the exact purpose of these belts. They wouldn’t be recommended if they were detrimental in anyway I guess.

So this evening we (Bernie and I) took Beanie (Brenden, our Son) to football training and spent the time doing our first ‘Couch to 5K’ run. There were seven repeat cycles of the run/walk pattern, and I managed to complete four, so I’m really chuffed. That equates to four laps of the football pitch, two at a brisk walk and two at a running pace!

The first three sessions are the same, so I’m hoping that by the end of the third I’ll be able to do the full seven. Do you know what though, even if I can’t I won’t be beating myself up over it. Ten weeks post-op tomorrow, and I don’t think I’m doing too badly at all 💪
