Today has been soooo busy, I’ve been doing my husband, Bernies, Tax Return. Being so poorly for the past year has meant that I just haven’t had it in me to do it before today (the very last day of the submission window), nonetheless I got it done. You see, not only do I usually work full-time as an Employment Specialist, but I’m also my husbands secretary / tech support / admin assistant. The second of which appears to be a voluntary position though, I might need to look into that now that I’m back on form 😉
I also volunteer for Olio, I’m sure I’ll talk about that a lot more in future posts, as I really love what they stand for, and the difference it can make. For anyone who doesn’t know, Olio is a food waste prevention scheme. Volunteers like myself go and collect surplus food from Supermarkets in the evening. We then list it on the Olio App and people can come and collect the food from us, free of charge. Not only does it help people in financial crisis or food poverty, but it also allows people who believe in reducing food waste to help save the planet one loaf of bread at a time. I haven’t been able to do it for so long now, so it feels really good to be back at it again. This week I have fed a homeless man living in a tent, and also a lady who has fled her home due to domestic violence and has two small children. I also donated seven boxes of baby formula to the food bank. You can’t beat the feeling of satisfaction you get from helping other people in this way, it’s so rewarding!
I bet you didn’t realise I was a woman of so many talents 😉
I’ve got a really exciting weekend coming up, as some of my best friends are coming to visit from down South. I haven’t seen them for ages, and I can’t wait. It’s going to be a weekend full of fun and friendship, and I’m bursting at the seams to see them ❤
I also updated my emergency handbag today too, it had bags in it that were cut to fit my stoma a few weeks back, but it has shrunk considerably since then. Thought I’d do them in a lighthearted / funny / very Gemma style!
Let me know what you think…
