Funny Hair, A Pretty Bag And Ideas…

Today’s been a good one. It was too wet for the hubby, Bernie, to work. He’s a gardener so the weather is the King in this house. It’s nice though because occasionally we get a day like today, with the children at school and the day to ourselves.

So today started with a joint school run, and then I decided that I wanted to dye my hair. I’m not yet able to stretch too much, so Bernie helped me. Prior to the dying I figured the ends could do with a tidy up so trimmed a few centimeters off the bottom. I have been doing this for years, in between hair cuts, I saw it online and it gives a nice finish. It’s simple to do, just put your hair into a pony on the very top of your head right at the front near the hairline. Then pull it down in front of your eyes, use a comb to hold it straight and then cut, following the comb as a guide. It gives a lovely ‘V’ shape at the back when you let it down again.

Anyway, I digress. After the chop I let it go and it sat proudly on my forehead, I’m not sure how to describe this absolute wonder of a look, so I’ll just let you take it all in with the photo at the bottom ;-). I found this absolutely hilarious for some reason, so went through to show Bernie, who pointed out that I looked like a member of the ‘floppy hair gang’. This is a name we have kindly attributed to my Son, Brenden, and his friends. They all have similar haircuts that sit flop-ily (new word to add to your vocabulary) on their foreheads. I promptly took a photo to show him later. I was sure I would gain membership to the gang with this look.

Needless to say, I did not! Additionally my membership from the Motherhood gang would be revoked if I ever turned up to pick him up from school with it like that too!

When I came out of hospital and people started to visit, it was early December, so lots of people were visiting, I started to ask people if they would like to decorate bags for me. I then made it into a bit of a game, by mixing them up and putting them back, so each time I changed my bag I wouldn’t know what I was going to get. I’ve had real crackers, but but really pleased with today’s. I think it’s beautiful ❤

In other news, I’ve been thinking that it would be a really nice idea to feature other peoples experiences with either Ileostomies or Colostomies on here too. What do you think? Is it good idea? Would you like to read about other peoples experiences too?

I don’t necessarily think it just needs to be people who have had first hand experience either, it might be nice to hear from family or friends who have loved ones who have been through the surgery too. After all it doesn’t just affect us, but it affects everyone around us in someway too, particularly if we’ve been significantly unwell beforehand, or had a sudden life-changing diagnosis that led to the surgery.

With that in mind, if you would be interested in sharing your story with me, drop me a line and we can have a chat about it in more detail. I did post the idea on a support group, as I thought that was a good place to start. However, I think it was considered self-promotion, so it wasn’t allowed. If you don’t fancy sharing your story, but think it’s a good idea, maybe you could share this post with people you think may be interested, if so that would be great, and Thank You in advance!
